Linux, Servers & Networks

Installing, running and troubleshooting servers, self-hosted services and networks – without needing your own operations team.

How I can help

I help small businesses, associations and tech-minded individuals with Linux and Windows, servers, virtualisation, self-hosting and networks. That can mean setting up a new server, migrating a service, troubleshooting something that has stopped working, or making sure updates and backups actually happen. I run several services on my own servers, including the visitor statistics for this website.

Typical jobs

  • A Linux server that has stopped responding or is behaving strangely
  • Setting up a web server, file server or internal service
  • Old servers that have not been updated in a long time
  • Services you would rather run yourself than pay for as cloud subscriptions
  • Networks that are slow, unstable or hard to get an overview of
  • Uncertainty about whether your backups can actually be restored

What is included

Linux & Windows administration

Installation, configuration, users and permissions, updates and troubleshooting on Linux and Windows systems.

Virtualisation & self-hosting

Virtual machines and containers to run several services on the same hardware, and self-hosting of for example websites, analytics and internal tools.

Networks & security

Troubleshooting and configuring routers, Wi-Fi and networks, firewall rules, encrypted connections (SSL/TLS) and secure remote access.

Who this is for

Small businesses and associations that have – or want – their own server, developers and enthusiasts who want to run their own services, and anyone who has inherited a server nobody quite knows how it works.

On site or remote

On-site work is available in Kalmar municipality and on Öland. Most server work is done remotely over a secure connection and therefore works anywhere in Sweden.

How it works

  1. 01

    Current state

You tell me what you have today and what you want to achieve. If needed, I review the system remotely.

  2. 02

    Proposal and price

You get a proposal with a price and a clear explanation of the pros and cons.

  3. 03

    Implementation

I install, migrate or fix what is needed, with backups taken before major changes.

  4. 04

    Handover

I walk you through what was done and write down the essentials, so the knowledge stays with you.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with both Linux and Windows?

Yes. I work with Linux servers and Windows environments, and with mixed networks where both are used.

Can you help remotely?

Yes, server work is usually done over a secure remote connection such as SSH. You stay in control of the access rights.

What is self-hosting and is it right for me?

Self-hosting means running a service on your own server instead of renting it as a cloud service. It can lower running costs and give you more control over your data, but it requires maintenance. I help you weigh the pros and cons before you decide.

Can you handle updates and backups on an ongoing basis?

Yes, we can agree on recurring maintenance – for example security updates and checking that backups can be restored.

Need help with a server?

Describe your setup and what you want to achieve, and I will get back to you with a proposal.
